THR reports that the search for the actor playing Young Han Solo is currently in its final stages. Last weekend in London screen-tests were conducted involving the following actors for the Star Wars spin-off movie.
Alden Ehrenreich, he was one of the highlights of Hail, Caesar!
Jack Reynor, he is known for his work in Transformers: Age of Extinction and the upcoming Sing Street.
Taron Egerton, the star of The Kingsman and Eddie the Eagle.
Other actors who were in the prior list which we reported back in January included Miles Teller (Whiplash, Divergent movies), Ansel Elgort (Fault in Our Stars, Divergent movies, Baby Driver), Emory Cohen (Brooklyn) and Blake Jenner, who stars in Richard Linklater’s new movie Everybody Wants Some and guest starred recently in Supergirl as Cat Grant's son Adam Foster. All these actors also tested and had meetings. Judging by the previous shortlist, I was counting on Blake Jenner to make the final shortlist. Again, these casting sessions are secretive and they could still announce an actor who wasn't even mentioned in these lists.
Despite the fan support for Anthony Ingruber, the studio is probably looking to go with an actor who exhibits qualities beyond a good impression of Harrison Ford, even though he played the younger version of Harrison Ford's character in Age of Adaline last year.
The Han Solo movie will be shooting in early 2017 and is scheduled for release later in 2018. The movie will be directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller (The Lego Movie, 21 Jump Street, The Last Man on Earth). Young Han Solo is also rumored to appear in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story which will be released on December 16, 2016.
