THR reports that Sony Pictures has been developing their Ghostbusters animated movie through Sony Pictures Animation and now the project is moving forward.
Fletcher Moules, the animator and helmer behind the popular animated Clash of Clans commercial spots has signed on to direct the movie. Ivan Reitman, director of the original Ghostbusters would be one of the producers.
In July 2015, the studio created the Ghost Corps, a collective with Reitman and Dan Aykroyd to head up the expansion of the GB franchise and to create a Ghostbusters cinematic universe. (Cause every studio now wants their own cinematic universe).
Beside the upcoming Ghostbusters movie, the studio is apparently still developing the Ghostbusters movie with Channing Tatum with directors Joe and Anthony Russo (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Civil War). Frankly I don't see the Russo Brothers being attached to this project anymore, as they are tied up with the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the next 5 years.
DiC Enterprises along with Columbia Pictures Television produced The Real Ghostbusters animated TV series which ran from 1986 to 1991.
THR notes further on the other works of Fletcher Moules.
Fletcher has worked in commercials and did interstitial work for AMC. But his claim to fame are commercials for Clash of Clans. Clans is a popular online game but some of its spots are even more popular. One of Fletcher’s sports, Ride of the Hog Riders, has been viewed 90 million times.
Fletcher also worked in the creature department for Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones and in the prop department for The Matrix. Check out the commercial for Clash of Clans below.
