Imaginary Sci-Fi Air Show Reveals TIE Fighter Display

The Imperial TIE Fighters of the Original Trilogy are iconic spacecraft, even without their wings. This 1:1 scale replica of a wingless TIE cockpit demonstrates the interchangeable design of Standard TIE wings and TIE Interceptor wings, and presumably makes the exhibit more accessible to fans at ground level. The Sci-Fi Air Show, an online fantasy air show consisting of various spaceship models and sets, is not an actual exhibit---although we wish it were. Creators explain: "What if instead of using sets, models and special effects, the producers of science fiction films and television shows constructed full sized flying spaceships?" Combining fantastic models and trick photography, Sci-Fi Air Show takes us to a fantasy exhibit that makes us want to believe.

Be sure to check out the Sci-Fi Air Show site for the full faux exhibit including spaceships from other series like Battlestar Galactica, Space: 1999, and Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea.
